I saw this on Tuesday afternoon when I was on my great glasses hunt. Some idealistic college students.
I used to be one of them. Very into animal rights and vegetarianism. I never actually trekked to an overpass and held up a sign, or broke into a lab and set animals free, but there was a large part of me that wanted to. Now, frankly, I'm too overwhelmed to care as much. That's horrible, I know. But it's true.
I still love animals. Especially this one.
It's just that we have so many dietary restrictions now that I had to add the meat back in.
So, from a former-vegetarian-now-robust-carnivore...
May all your Thanksgiving wishes come true.

have a wonderful thanksgiving!

Thanks for your comment! I've just added you to my blogroll -- and don't beat yourself up about your son's allergies. There's no way to know if what we ate (or didn't eat) in pregnancy affected our kids at all.

You gotta love their idealism, I guess. Happy Thanksgiving (belatedly!).

I am SOOOOOOOO far behind on my blog reading but I just had to comment on this post (expect more comments before the end of the week! I love your blog!).
I consider myself a born again vegetarian so I completely understand what you mean when you say "frankly, I am too overwhelmed to care as much." I laughed so hard because I went from being a VEGAN to a rabid carnivore and have only recently rediscovered my kinder, gentler, more stony-crunchy side again. Have fun!

I really enjoyed your blogs, although I'm clueless as to how I got there when I was looking for "The Carnivore's Dilemna." Probably have nothing in common with you past the xx chromosome thing and an unnatural obsession with motherhood. I've been banned from the pedi salon due to hysteric laughter when they touched my feet, have a mother who still (40 years later) slips some eggplant into my meal just to make sure my lips really do swell up like toadstools, and have spent the last 28 years working in environmental regulation because I happened to read "Silent Spring". Dang, I wish I'd read something like "How to Make Money, Raise a Child Without Help, and Enjoy Life on the Way." So when you write THAT book, OR any other book, I'd sure like to read it.
