This week J. has been hauling out his old camping gear. He used to be quite the outdoorsman. Sadly, a legal career, two small kids and a middling-to-unoutdoorsy wife has put a temporary kibosh on that.
Saturday night though, we're going camping with four other families. When I agreed to the outside overnight, it was winter. And I when I imagined the first weekend of June I couldn't help but think of sun. And warmth. Chirping birds and bikini tops (not really).
Instead, we're supposed to get this:
Huddling in the tent playing cards and eating cookies I guess. Is that what you do during a rainy camping trip? I'm not sure.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to pack all these:
and this:
and most importantly, this:
Halp!

Is there a Starbucks close by? Remember your mittens and hat! It's too bad that the weather isn't really June. It's more like April here, too! UGH!

Dont you just love the Senseo? Best thing ever.
No advice for you on the packing. This is why I dont go outside. Too little plumbing and electricity.

This is precisely why I don't camp. I am a shower freak - I need at least one, if not two a day.
I like the IDEA of camping, and I love hiking and being outdoors and such, but the thought of not sleeping in a bed or getting a warm shower make me gag a little.
Despite it all, I hope you have a great time.
And we have a Tassimo and I often wonder what life was like before it because seriously, I don't think it could even be classified as LIVING! lol

Ummm, I think you are suppossed to get an RV now...yeah..electricity...I'm with you on the camping...I have imposed the NO TENTS rule in our house.

Holy shit I want your closet - nice and BIG :)
What is it with the weather anyway? I honestly think summer is on a stike or something because it's been super cold and rainy here too and it's normally toasty in our neck of the woods (Oregon) by now. My husband and son are supposed to go camping with a couple of other father/son groups this weekend as well. Luckily, I'm not going - I get to stay back with our 14 mo old which is fine with me - being stuck in a tent with three boys under the age of 5 is my idea of hell on earth. I hope you fare better.

NOO! Don't go!
Sorry. Just having flashbacks of the time we went camping and sat in a soaked tent with DRIP DRIP DRIP coming through the top onto our sleeping bag.
I hope the weather changes between now and then!

I believe you need to stay at a little cabin I know called The Holiday Inn. I would pack a lot of polar fleece and hot chocolate.

I ADORE camping, and even I find that weather forecast more than a little daunting. There are fantastic little coffee pots for camping, though -- check out REI. If nothing else, you could have great coffee every morning. Also, take lots of socks. More than you think you'll need. Nothing gets you cold faster than wet socks. Good luck! Here's hoping that the rain holds off during the day. (Rain at night is no big deal in a tent; it's even sort of fun.)

Dudette, that is TOO damn cold. Seriously. Wow - if you do go, I salute you.

That's so wrong! That weather report is just criminal

Honey, that's why you need to get yourself a trailer. I don't camp without mine (it has a shower, bed AND a coffee maker)!
It was so nice to meet you tonight! I wish we could all hang out more . . .

Holy crap it's cold out there. It's supposed to be 95 here today, with about 95% humidity.
At least you'll have other families there to keep the kids occupied. Stuff all the kids in one tent and everybody else in another. Hopefully the weather will warm up and dry up, though!

Ack! Are you all still going? It's pouring out there. I'm having visions of you all huddling together in your tent all weekend with nothing to do but eat and play cards!

Oh, good gravy, I am the least outdoorsy person you've ever met. My decision would be to not go. LOL!
Uh, good luck?

I hope you go (better you than me!), take everything made of fleece, good travel mug with lid so your brandy won't spill out. These forecasts over predict rain anyways, right?
Just think of all the blog posts material you'll have....

Haha. I'm so with you on this. What's fun and relaxing about sleeping on the ground, in the cold, with no good coffee for miles around??

Camping in the rain is my version of hell. Any way you could convince them to all chip in for a hotel?

I hope you managed to have fun--sorry I missed the trip (well, sort of....). My tri was great. I will catch up with you this week!

Ever see "Grizzly Man," the movie? That about sums up how I feel about camping, full-body shudder.
Hope it went okay . . .
