I'd like to know what childless sadist invented daylight savings time. Because, for me, going off it doesn't mean an extra hour of sleep. It means an extra hour of entertaining kids. And even though my kids are adorable and fun, they are also exhausting. They are still full of want and need and want and need.
Though I don't think I'll ever tire of gazing at the freckles across my son's cheeks and nose, or the feel of Claire smoothing my hair back from my face with her chubby hands, I do tire of fetching, feeding, and nagging.
But then, I've covered this before on my blog, haven't I? Ad nauseum.
Let's talk about Kettle Corn instead. I posted the recipe here a couple days ago.
And, Imogen Heap, because I'm such a ridiculous fangirl. I just finished watching Everything In Between and loved it. I only let myself turn it on while huffing and puffing on the elliptical, hoping that would motivate me to exercise (it did). How can you not respect someone like her? Someone with such an amazing creative process, who blends music and tech into ethereal genius.
Then there's this:
Good night.

Whatever it takes to get us moving. And then eating popcorn afterward. We didn't do anything about DST until mid day when it seemed more civilized! Seemed to work well.

My teens are always happy for the "extra hour" of sleep granted by the end of DST. As for the youngest, I escaped his early morning wake-up by sending him to camp with the Boy Scouts overnight. He was so tired after camping and hiking that he put himself to bed at 8:30pm last night.

Daylight savings time is a bitch when you have a seven-month-old who JUST settled into an awesome sleep schedule the previous few months. So now instead of waking up at his convenient 7am, this morning he was awake at 6am (half an hour before my alarm). Hey, it's still 7am to him! Praying for a quick adjustment. Ugh.

I saw Imogen at the Royal Albert Hall last week, she was amazing! They are releasing a DVD of the show, you should get it.

Got to you by way of your SSP to your other blog on BallardMoms. Love your writing!
We're up at 5:30 here, still, so I share your life in Hades.
