Max and Claire have this gym teacher who spins a lot of music during P.E. Pretty benign stuff like Dynamite and Fireflies. Lately he's been playing Celebration by Kool and the Gang. I know this because Max comes home singing the song. Today I joined in and, flabbergasted, he said, "You don't know this!"
Ha ha ha! The hell I don't, kid. I had the tape. As well as Lisa Lisa, multiple Madonna cassettes and Yaz like crazy. I owned tons of dreck. But Kool and the Gang. They're classic. They're funky and cheesy and I still admit to liking them. I'm sure they're doing some casino or wedding junket now, but whatever. They have brass! And a guy who does backbends.

Oh, yeah!

I remember this! Good lord, what a lot of pointing they do. That gold fringe is SHAKIN'.

Kool and the Gang was the first concert I ever went to. My brother took me. Great band, great memories!

I'm a nanny who worked nearly a decade in daycares, and I'm 26 years old. Kool & the Gang have always been in my repertoire of awesome dance music, and this particulary song is a favorite of the 5 year old I work with :D
