I know this isn't a popular position to take, but the following is what I think of Starbuck's pumpkin spice latté.
Maybe my overly mature palate is to blame, but the PSL is sweet dipped in sweet piled with sweet and topped with sweet. Ick.
Every single time I taste something cloying I think of this scene
And today, when the kids and I went to Sbux to do homework and I decided to try the PSL, was no exception.
Just for kicks, here's a link to a nutritional breakdown of the Pumpkin Spice Latté. Thirty-eight grams of sugar, people. And that's with no whipped cream.

If, however, you like the spices without all the sweet, you can buy a pumpkin spice ground coffee (no sugar) at Trader Joe's. Then you can make your own steamed milk and mix with this coffee, and have the great nutmeg/cinnamon/autumn spice flavor without that gagging sugar. At least, that's what I like for a week or two in fall (couldn't drink that much flavored coffee year round).

Angie, I've pinned (as in Pin-your-butt-to-the-sofa-terest) a couple of low calorie, low-sugar options of making your own PSLs. It's in my Fall pinboard if you want to take a look.
I've resisted the urge to buy one at FiveBucks, because I know they have a horrendous number of calories.

Loved the link to "Golden Girls" and PSL! Gained lots of weight stopping for my AM PSL and banana nut bread. Since then, switched to water in the AM and my children's leftover breakfast. Weight slipping away like whipped cream on a plastic straw!
